The San Francisco Police Department has made an arrest in the killing of CashApp founder Bob Lee, a tech executive who was found dead on April 4th in downtown San Francisco.

According to Mission Local, the arrest was made this morning outside of the city's borders, and the suspect is a man named Nima Momeni, who also works in the tech industry and was reportedly known to Lee.

Police officers were dispatched to Emeryville with a warrant for Momeni's arrest, and they found him at the address corresponding to his name. Momeni is the owner of Expand IT, a tech company.

Multiple police sources have stated that the killing was not a robbery or a random attack, but rather a result of a confrontation between Lee and Momeni. The two men were allegedly driving together in a car registered to Momeni through downtown San Francisco in the early hours of April 4th when the confrontation began.

The altercation reportedly continued after Lee exited the vehicle, and Momeni allegedly stabbed him multiple times with a knife, which was found not far from the scene.

The circumstances surrounding Lee's death were considered incongruous by law enforcement officials from the beginning, as he was found in a deserted section of downtown San Francisco at 2:30 a.m. on Main Street, where there is little to no foot traffic. However, some of Lee's colleagues in the tech industry and other influential figures portrayed his killing as part of a larger trend of violent crime in the city.

Lee's death is one of a dozen homicides in San Francisco this year, but it is the only one to have garnered national coverage.
